Planned (elective) treatment
This page gives information about coming hospital care for planned treatment as an inpatient, day case patient, or if you have an outpatient appointment.
Inpatients and day case procedures
We are now carrying out non-urgent inpatient activity and day case surgery as normal.
Inpatients coming in for planned treatment are no longer required to take a lateral flow or PCR test to check for COVID-19 infection. Our teams may ask a small number of patients to take a lateral flow or PCR test before coming into hospital, but your clinical team will contact you if this is the case.
If you are coming into hospital, also see:
- the Attending our hospitals page.
- the Who can visit page for information on whether you can have visitors during your stay.
Outpatient appointments
We hold face-to-face outpatient appointments as normal. We also conduct video and phone appointments where this is appropriate, to reduce unnecessary visits to our hospitals.
If you have an appointment, we will contact you about whether it is taking place at the hospital, by phone, or by video.
If you have:
- a video consultation, see the Video consultations page
- a face-to-face appointment, see the Attending our hospitals page.
