Test results
With MyChart, you’ll be able to see some of your test results such as routine blood tests and ultrasounds in pregnancy.
When your result is ready, you’ll get an email, text message or a notification on your mobile, depending on your MyChart communication preferences. Then, you can visit the Test results page.
Not all test results will be made available on MyChart. If you’re having a test that does not get added to MyChart, your healthcare team will tell you how and when you will get your results.
How long until you see your test results
When you have the test, the team caring for you will tell you when you’ll get your results.
Depending on the test you have, your results will be added to MyChart after a few days, or after a few weeks.
After a few days
- Routine blood tests
- Routine body fluid tests
- International normalisation ratio (INR)
- Ultrasound scans in pregnancy
- Sexual and reproductive health
Test results for sexual and reproductive health will not be added to MyChart if someone else has proxy access to your account.
After a few weeks
- Cardiology results
- Radiology results
- Endoscopy results
- Some diagnostic tests such as ENT, neurology, sleep study and urology
- Ophthalmology (eye) diagnostic tests
In some cases, your healthcare team might want to talk to you about your results first.
If you do not see your test results
Results are not always available on MyChart. You will never see sensitive results, and others are only added if the clinician feels it’s appropriate or has already discussed the results with you.
If you’re having a test that does not get added to MyChart automatically, your healthcare team will tell you how and when you will get your results.
Tests ordered by your GP will not display in MyChart. GPs will communicate these results with you.
If you were expecting to see your results on MyChart and feel you have been waiting too long, please contact the service your appointment was with.
Viewing your results in MyChart
You will see individual results with:
- the name of the test
- the date of the test
- the team who ordered it
If you open the test result, you’ll also see:
- any comments from your clinician
- the normal range of the test and where your result falls
- trends of your results, if you have the same tests regularly
- a link to more information about the test and possible results

If you’re concerned about a result
If you’re worried about your test results and what they mean, speak to a member of the team caring for you. They will be able to answer any questions you have and explain the test results in more detail.
Clinical review of your results
Your test results will be sent to the doctor who requested them. They may see these results before you, or at the same time. This depends on the type of test you have and what the results are.
