Nursing and midwifery

Nurses and midwives are the driving force for the delivery of new and enhanced working at King’s. So we actively search for staff who are innovative, adaptable, and committed to providing superior evidence-based care.

How we recruit

All nursing and midwifery posts, except temporary bank vacancies, are advertised in current vacancies on our site and on NHS Jobs.

We advertise for various specialties and roles throughout the year, shortlisting applicants who have met the required criteria to be offered an interview.

Newly qualified nurses and midwives

We recruit newly qualified nurses and midwives via recruitment campaigns that we run twice a year.  We welcome applications from nursing and midwifery students at all universities throughout the UK.

Adverts to apply can be found on our current vacancies page and on NHS Jobs. We also attend open days and job fairs throughout the year.

All newly qualified nurses and midwives complete our Preceptorship Programme training support scheme in their first year with us.

Band 5 nurses

We manage all Band 5 nurse recruitment centrally and run a number of recruitment campaigns and attend open days and job fairs every year. These cover vacancies across all care groups. These positions are not open to newly qualified nurses.

We want to ensure you have a satisfying career at King’s with access to the widest possible choice of training. So three times a year, we give Band 5 nurses the opportunity to transfer internally within the Trust to another clinical area or specialty without going through the usual external recruitment processes. Find out more by emailing [email protected].

Return to Practice (RTP)

We support and encourage all nurses who want to return to clinical practice. We have partnerships with the University of Greenwich and Kingston University to support this programme.

RTP applicants can be supported in any of our 5 sites across south London and Bromley. All applicants for RTP are considered individually, to provide a bespoke clinical experience in the clinical area of their choice where possible. Find out more information about Return to Practice.

Temporary and bank vacancies

If you are interested in temporary or flexible roles at King’s, register with the King’s Staff Bank.
