Before your appointment

We’ll send you a letter with an outpatient appointment date and time, and information about how to attend.

We send this as a digital letter that you can open from a text or email. If you don’t or can’t open it, we’ll post it to you instead.

If you want to get appointment details by post instead of text or email, tell the receptionist at your next appointment. They will update your preferences.

What to bring to your appointment

  • Your appointment details
  • Any medicines you are taking
  • A list of any questions you want to ask
  • If it is a face-to-face appointment, any samples your appointment letter asks you to bring, plus money for prescriptions (or an exemption certificate)

Language support

If you need a translator, ring the number on your appointment letter and an ask for an interpreter to be arranged for you.

Research

You might be asked to take part in clinical research.

You can refuse to take part. This will not affect your treatment in any way.

If you do take part, the doctor will explain what is involved. They will also ask you to sign a consent form to show you agree to take part.
