General neurology

What we do

Our general neurology outpatient service sees patients with a wide variety of neurological (nervous system) symptoms. These can affect their brain, eyes, limbs, speech or swallowing.

We ask patients for details of their symptoms and examine their neurological system. We then decide if they need any more tests or treatments.

The types of conditions we treat include headache, seizures and limb weakness. In general, patients with symptoms that need more investigation will remain in our care. If they have certain well-defined neurological conditions, we may refer them to one of our specialty services.

Patients with headaches may be seen by us or the community-based headache service.

Preparing for your appointment

Please bring to your appointment any information about your symptoms such as a witnessed account of a collapse.

Also bring details of any tests you have had or when you have attended other hospitals, including Accident & Emergency.
