King’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Recovery Group

King’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Recovery Group is for any patient who has been discharged from Intensive Care (also known as Critical Care) at King’s or Lewisham hospitals. The ICU experience is unique for each person, but we know that being admitted to the ICU can sometimes be distressing. We set up this group to address the growing need for ICU patients to talk about their experiences in a supportive environment.

The group will provide an opportunity for you to share your thoughts, experiences and any coping mechanisms you have found helpful. There will be two trained healthcare professionals facilitating the group and supporting with any difficult conversations.

Due to Coronavirus, the group will be held by video meetings. We will revisit meeting in person when it is safe to do so. If you would prefer to, you are welcome to join and just listen to the experiences of other members. There is no pressure to turn on your video or talk if you don’t want to.

Please note that we will not be able to answer any questions about specific medical conditions or admissions. Please ask these questions in your clinic appointment.
