King’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Recovery Group

King’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Recovery Group is for any patient who has been discharged from Intensive Care (also known as Critical Care) at King’s College Hospital or Princess Royal University Hospital.

The ICU experience is unique for each person, but we know that being admitted to the ICU can sometimes be distressing. We set up this group to address the growing need for ICU patients to talk about their experiences in a supportive environment.

The group provides an opportunity for you to share your thoughts, experiences and any coping mechanisms you have found helpful. Two trained healthcare professionals facilitate the group and support any difficult conversations. Critical Care specialists (for example, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists and occupational therapists) often join the meetings to share information about the ICU experience and recovery.

Please note that we cannot answer any questions about specific medical conditions or admissions. Please ask these questions in your clinic appointment.

The meetings will be held every two weeks on a Thursday at 2pm via video. Please email [email protected] with any questions or to let us know you are interested in joining.
