Local Authority Appointed Governors

Cllr Robert Evans – Bromley Council

I have been an elected Councillor in Bromley since 2006, and have occupied several senior positions including five years as Executive Member for Social Care. In Council, I am Vice-Chairman of the Audit and Risk Management Committee and my committee appointments include the Children, Education and Families Policy Development and Scrutiny Committee, the Health and Wellbeing Board and the Health Scrutiny Sub-Committee.

My 40+ year career in education included deputy headships and a headship. I am now retired and am a Board member of Mytime Active, and a member of Rochester Diocesian Board of Education and the Court of St. Olave’s & St Saviours.

Cllr Renata Hamvas – Southwark Council

I have served the residents of Southwark as an elected member since 2010. My current role is Chair of Licensing. I have previously been Chair of Audit and Governance and a Deputy Cabinet member. I have been involved in policy development at a local to national level.

My academic background is in medical genetics and epidemiology. I started my academic career as an undergraduate at King’s College London, then an MSc at Glasgow University and PhD at Imperial College London School of Medicine. I have worked at St Mary’s Hospital, St George’s Hospital, Cancer Research UK and headed a research group at the Institute of Child Health at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

I have a long-standing interest in health issues and in good patient care. I want to use my professional background, combined with my personal experience of King’s, to help the Trust to deliver the best clinical care for patients within budget.

Cllr Marianna Masters – Lambeth Council

In my role as a public governor at the Trust I am focused on addressing health inequalities and improving the experience of both patients and staff.

I bring over 25 years of leadership experience in the corporate business sector, alongside key roles in NHS governance, local government, and civil society. At King’s, I support efforts to make care more inclusive and responsive to the needs of marginalised communities and I am driven to shape initiatives that improve staff wellbeing.

Prior to joining King’s, I was a Public Governor at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, where I co-designed an NHS careers event aimed at connecting young people from underrepresented backgrounds with meaningful opportunities. My role at King’s builds on a long-standing commitment to practical reform and community-led change in London’s health system.

Partnership Organisation Governors

Yogesh Tanna – Trust’s Joint Staff Committee

I have worked in the Department of Community Special Care Dentistry at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust for 22 years. I also work as a tutor in the Department of Dental Therapy and Hygiene, providing support and guidance to the next generation of dental therapists. I am the Audit Lead for both departments. I have also been a member of the Clinical Governance and Health and Safety Committees and work on policy development.

I believe that colleagues and patients across the Trust deserve to have their voice heard, to raise issues and influence the decision-making process. Together we can continue to strengthen our Trust’s mission to provide outstanding healthcare services to our community.
