General neurology

What we do

Our General neurology outpatient service sees patients with a wide variety of neurological (nervous system) symptoms. These can affect their brain, eyes, speech and swallowing, or limbs. Patients are referred by their GP.

When patients come into King’s for their appointment, we ask them for details of their symptoms and examine their neurological system. We then decide if any further tests or treatments are needed.

The types of neurological conditions we see include headache, seizures and limb weakness. In general, patients with symptoms that need further investigation will remain in our care. If they have certain well-defined neurological conditions, we may refer them to one of our specialty services, as appropriate.

Patients with headaches may be seen by us or the community-based headache service.

Preparing for your appointment

Please bring with you to your appointment any information about your symptoms such as a witnessed account of a collapse.

Also bring details of any tests you have had or when you have attended other hospitals, including Accident & Emergency Departments.
