What we do
We diagnose, treat and provide continuing care for patients with chest-related conditions, such as:
- asthma
- chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
- sarcoidosis
- asbestos-related conditions including mesothelioma
- cystic fibrosis
- tuberculosis
- chronic and acute respiratory failure
- sleep-disordered breathing
- pneumonia
- pulmonary haemorrhage, hypertension and embolism
- genetic and developmental lung disorders
- lung cancer.
We provide a comprehensive range of services, including:
- lung function and allergy screening
- fibre optic bronchoscopy
- TB clinic
- sarcoidosis clinic
- joint oncology clinic
- cystic fibrosis clinic
- smoking cessation clinic
- long COVID clinic (respiratory and neuropsychiatry).
We are closely linked to King's College London School of Medicine and conduct research as well as providing a range of clinical services.
Outpatient appointment locations
Appointments take place in one of the following locations:
- third floor, Willowfield Building
- third floor, Guthrie Wing
- the Venetian Building.
Preparing for your appointment
King’s is smoke-free, which means smoking is not permitted anywhere on our site or grounds. Your doctor or nurse will ask you about smoking and will be happy to offer you support and treatment if needed.
You do not need to prepare for routine appointments.

Conditions we treat
We diagnose, treat and provide continuing care for patients with a considerable and challenging range of pathologies.
These include:
- asthma
- COPD
- diffuse interstitial lung disease
- cough
- asbestos-related conditions including mesothelioma
- cystic fibrosis
- tuberculosis
- management of chronic and acute respiratory failure
- sleep-disordered breathing
- pneumonia
- bronchiectasis
- pulmonary hypertension, haemorrhage and embolism
- allergic lung disorders
- disorders of the pleura (including mesothelioma, pleural effusion and pneumothorax)
- pulmonary manifestations of systemic disease
- genetic and developmental lung disorders
- long COVID.
We also have a major commitment to treating lung cancer.
What is required before referring a patient
Patients should be aware that King’s is smoke-free, which means smoking is not permitted anywhere on our site or grounds.
For routine appointments, patients do not need to make any preparations.
Booking a patient at King's
GPs should refer via NHS e-referral (e-RS) wherever possible.

Routine Referrals
Fill in the ‘Integrated Respiratory Team - referral form’ (below). The form lists how to submit the referral, depending on which service is needed.
Emergency Referrals
GPs should make urgent referrals via NHS e-Referral and state that the referral is urgent.
For suspected cancer, refer via the two week wait pathway.
In an emergency, call switchboard on 020 3299 9000 and ask to speak to the on-call respiratory consultant.
