Neuro-oncology
What we do
King's neuro-oncology service is one of the largest in the UK and Europe and sees patients referred nationally and internationally.
Our team of neurosurgeons, neuro-oncologists, neuro-pathologists, neuro-radiologists, palliative care (pain relief) doctors, clinical nurse specialists and therapists treats patients with all types of brain and spine tumours. They combine clinical expertise with state-of-the-art facilities to ensure our patients receive the very best care and treatment.
We run specialised multidisciplinary clinics as well as children's (paediatric) clinics. We also provide the UK's only dedicated Teenage and Young Adult Service for central nervous system tumours.
We have a brain tumour support group which is held on the first Monday of every month at St Thomas' Hospital. For more information, please call the Neuro-oncology Co-ordinator.
See our cancer care webpages for more details of the cancer care provided at King's.

Routine Referrals
Routine referrals are reviewed at the weekly Neuro-oncology MDT meeting held every Friday.
To ensure a referral is included in the review meeting, please complete the Neuro-oncology referral form below and email it, by no later than 4pm Wednesday, to the Neuro-oncology team at kch-tr.Neuro-OncologyMDTReferrals@nhs.net. Referrals received after this time will be reviewed at the following Friday's meeting.
A Neuro-oncology referral form must be completed and sent to King's Neuro-oncology team for each referrred patient. All investigations - i.e. CT/MRI - must be image-linked to King's College Hospital Radiology Department.
Emergency Referrals
Urgent referrals for suspected malignancies can be made via the two week wait pathway.
Other acute referrals from hospitals
Go to the acute neurosurgery referrals page for advice on how to refer using the inter-hospital system.
Other acute referrals from GPs
Patients should be referred to their local A&E department for urgent assessment.
