Paediatric endocrinology
What we do
The Children’s Endocrinology Service sees children who have problems with the endocrine system – the hormone messages that control growth, metabolism and puberty.
We provide a regional service that diagnoses and manages endocrine conditions in children.
We are also part of the pituitary multidisciplinary team which carries out pituitary surgery. We run a number of specialist clinics including:
- Turner syndrome clinic: a multidisciplinary service for children and young people affected by Turner
- congenital adrenal hyperplasia: a multidisciplinary service for children and young people, working closely with the biochemistry lab, nursing, urology and gynaecology
- joint paediatric endocrinology and adolescent gynaecology clinic
Young people moving into adulthood are seen in our teenage and young adult service. We also work alongside the Evelina London Children’s Hospital Disorders of Sexual Differentiation service to provide care for for children and families affected by these disorders.
We see most children as outpatients, both at King’s College Hospital, Denmark Hill and the Princess Royal University Hospital, as well as several regional outreach clinics, from Woolwich in London to as far afield as Hastings in East Sussex. We also work closely with community services and others in specialist services both at King’s and across London to join up care for our children and families.
