New welcome guide for King’s patients
01 May 2026 - Latest “Welcome to our hospitals” guide is now available
As part of Experience of Care Week 2026, King’s has launched its Welcome to our hospitals guide for adult inpatients.
Funded by King’s College Hospital Charity, the latest guide has been designed to be simple, accessible and easy to follow, helping patients, their carers and families prepare for a hospital stay.
The updated welcome booklet gives patients comprehensive information about what to expect and what they might need to help make their stay as comfortable as possible, including:
- what to bring to hospital
- who is involved in patient care
- visiting and communication information
- support with health and wellbeing whilst in hospital.
Karen Taylor, Head of Patient Services, Experience and Involvement at King’s, said: “We know that being admitted to hospital can be a daunting experience, and we hope our new guide will help alleviate any fears, answer some common questions, and give patients and carers confidence to ask questions if they feel unsure or concerned about anything during their stay.”
Iona Joy, Director of Grants and Insight at King’s College Hospital Charity, said: “We’re very pleased to have funded this helpful new guide, as part of our ongoing work to improve patient experience across King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust hospitals. We hope it will give patients and their loved ones a greater understanding of what to expect during their hospital stay, enable them to prepare for this effectively and ensure they know where to turn if they need further information, or have any questions while they are in hospital.”
King’s Welcome to our hospitals guide covers inpatient stays at King’s College Hospital, Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) and Orpington Hospital. A digital version of the guide is available to view online.
