King’s receives top cancer award

17 March 2026 - King's has received a national award for our commitment to patients living with incurable blood cancer.

King’s staff members have been presented with the Myeloma UK Clinical Service Excellence Programme (CSEP) Award in recognition of their outstanding care and dedication to people with myeloma, an incurable blood cancer which claims the lives of 3,000 people in the UK each year.

They were praised for their efforts to improve patients’ quality of life and eagerness to listen to their needs.

The accolade, awarded by blood cancer charity Myeloma UK, recognises hospitals’ commitment to raising the bar for treatment and providing compassionate care.

Dr Stella Bowcock, Dr Kirsty Cuthill and Dr Arief Gunawan, Consultant Haematologists at King’s, said: “Our teams at the Trust are delighted to receive the Clinical Service Excellence Programme awards from Myeloma UK with an overall score of ‘excellent’ for both sites

“The awards are a testament to the dedication of our teams and the patient-centred care we strive to deliver every day across our hospitals. We are always looking for ways to improve and do the best we can for patients, and this is well-deserved recognition for our hard working staff.”
