Biography

Professor Jackson graduated from the University of Birmingham in 1975 and, after general professional training and a research fellowship in Birmingham, underwent clinical and research training in clinical pharmacology and geriatric medicine in London and San Antonio, Texas. He was appointed to a Senior Lectureship and subsequently a chair at King’s College London.
He is currently Professor of Clinical Gerontology. His research interests are in the clinical pharmacology of ageing. In addition to leading the Department of Clinical Gerontology, he runs the hypertension service for King’s. He has been Chairman of the British Geriatrics Society (BGS) Academic and Research Committee, Chairman of the BGS Drugs and Prescribing Section and Chairman of the UK Association of Professors of Geriatric Medicine.

He is the recent past Chairman of the Joint Formulary Committee of Guy’s, St Thomas’, King’s College and Lewisham Hospitals. He currently leads the Age and Ageing Specialty Group for South London CLRN and is a member of the Department of Health’s Advisory Committee on Borderline Substances; a member of the SAC in Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics; a member of the Regional Training Committees for Geriatric Medicine and Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics.
