Biography
Mr Gordan Grahovac is a Consultant Neurosurgeon and Spinal Lead at King’s College Hospital, London, where he directs one of the most advanced and comprehensive spinal surgery programmes in the UK. He also serves as the Lead for the South East London and Kent Spinal Network, coordinating specialist spinal care across multiple hospitals to ensure consistency, safety, and innovation in treatment pathways.
Originally from Zagreb, Croatia, Mr Grahovac completed his medical degree, specialist neurosurgical training, and PhD in Biological Sciences at the University of Zagreb. He further refined his expertise through prestigious fellowships in Paediatric Neurosurgery at Lurie Children’s Hospital, Chicago (USA), and Complex Spinal Surgery at King’s College Hospital, London (UK).
Mr Grahovac provides spinal care across the full spectrum of conditions, from degenerative neck and back disorders to complex deformities, spinal tumours, trauma, infections, and metastatic disease. He is highly skilled in minimally invasive and anterior spinal techniques, offering patients personalised solutions that reduce recovery time and preserve function.
His special interests include cervical spine disorders, especially cervical myelopathy and cervical disc replacement, where he focuses on restoring natural motion and improving long‑term quality of life.
A recognised leader in innovation, Mr Grahovac established the UK’s first Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) programme for spinal patients, transforming recovery outcomes nationally. He also performs among the highest number of spinal robotic procedures in the UK, incorporating robotics and navigated surgery to achieve exceptional surgical accuracy.
Mr Grahovac leads a nationally designated centre of excellence for Spontaneous Intracranial Hypotension (SIH), providing expert multidisciplinary care for patients with this complex condition. He is also widely regarded for his expertise in intradural and intramedullary spinal surgery, some of the most technically demanding areas of neurosurgery.
Alongside his hospital practice in London, Mr Grahovac runs regular NHS spinal clinics at King’s College Hospital, and across Kent at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells Hospitals, ensuring that patients throughout the region have access to advanced spinal diagnostics and treatment close to home.
Deeply involved in research and innovation, Mr Grahovac is the principal investigator in multiple national (NIHR‑funded) and international collaborative studies, focusing on new surgical technologies, spinal robotics, and regenerative techniques. His research is widely published and reflecting his active contribution to the advancement of modern spinal surgery.
