Biography

Dr Rosita Zakeri is an Honorary Consultant Cardiologist specialising in heart failure and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging at King’s College Hospital and Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trusts. She is also a Senior Clinical Lecturer at King’s College London.

Dr Zakeri trained in cardiology at leading centres in London including Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. She completed a PhD at the Mayo Clinic (USA), where her research focused on atrial fibrillation and heart failure.

She specialises in the diagnosis and management of heart failure, particularly heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF), a complex condition that can be challenging to diagnose. Dr Zakeri leads a specialist HFpEF clinic at King’s College Hospital, caring for patients with heart failure and unexplained breathlessness. She also has expertise in advanced cardiovascular imaging, supporting accurate diagnosis and personalised treatment.

Alongside her clinical work, Dr Zakeri leads research aimed at improving the detection and treatment of HFpEF. Her research programme is supported by a national fellowship from the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR).

Dr Zakeri is actively involved in teaching and training doctors, medical students, and other healthcare professionals. She holds committee and leadership roles in national and international cardiology societies, contributing to the development of clinical practice and research in heart failure, and has advised on heart failure care as a clinical expert for the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).
