Biography

Dr Prash Vas is a Consultant Diabetologist and Diabetic Foot Physician at King’s College Hospital. The King’s Diabetes Foot Clinic was the first dedicated multidisciplinary foot clinic in the world and is one of UK’s largest units dealing with complex diabetic (and sometimes non-diabetic) foot problems.

He has research interests in the aetiopathogensis of diabetic foot ulcers, development of diabetic neuropathy (especially small fibre neuropathy) and in validation of new techniques designed to detect neuropathy.

His work with Gerry Rayman at Ipswich Hospital led to the development of the Ipswich Touch Test, now widely recognised as a simple reliable method to assess loss of protective foot sensation. It has been taken up by Diabetes UK as the ‘Touch the Toes’ test. He has also been a part of two Quality in Care – Diabetes award-winning teams, most recently in 2014.
