Biography

After completing a degree in Biochemistry at the University of Bristol, Dr Crane graduated from the University of Nottingham Medical School in 2007. He trained in the Oxford and South London Deaneries, completing training in General Internal Medicine, Endocrinology and Diabetes in 2020. He was appointed as a substantive consultant Endocrinologist at King’s College Hospital in September 2020.

His clinical roles include outpatient clinics in general endocrinology, thyroid nodules and obesity medicine and inpatient general internal and acute medicine. He is a member of the multidisciplinary teams for pituitary, adrenal and neuroendocrine tumour management and Tier 4 obesity management (metabolic/bariatric surgery).

His sub-specialty interest is in the management of obesity, including pharmacological management and the perioperative medical management of people undergoing metabolic/bariatric surgery. He has worked on numerous clinical trials of pharmaceuticals for obesity and has led his own research into the impact of metabolic surgery on the hearts of people living with obesity and type 2 diabetes.
