Protect King’s as a peer vaccinator!

King’s is recruiting peer vaccinators to deliver flu jabs across the Trust over the autumn and winter months – please register your interest now!

While many staff are keen to be vaccinated, they can’t always get away from their busy departments or the schedules of static flu vaccination clinics don’t match their shifts. This is where peer vaccinators come in. They are mobile and can give the vaccine to staff in wards and departments near where they are based.

Last year peer vaccinators delivered almost 1,000 vaccinations to staff across the Trust, helping to prevent flu outbreaks in clinical areas that puts the health of our patients and staff at risk. This year we are hoping to achieve a better result and we need your help. When staff are vaccinated against flu it reduces staff absences which puts further pressure on our colleagues and services and peer vaccinators are critical to achieving this.

Could you be a peer vaccinator this year?

Peer vaccinator applications can only be accepted from people in the following roles:

  • Registered nurses
  • Midwives and nursing associates registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
  • Operating department practitioners
  • Paramedics and Physiotherapists registered in Part 13, 8 or 9 of the Health and Care Professions Council register
  • Pharmacists registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council

If you’re interested in becoming a peer vaccinator you need to first check your manager is happy for you to apply. The next step is to email the Occupational Health team, with your manager in copy, at: [email protected] for more information.

Unless released to vaccinate elsewhere, you will only need to vaccinate in your area or department. All candidates will have to do up to an hour and a half of online learning and will receive ongoing support ready to start vaccinating their colleagues at King’s from September.
