Team King’s wins MAMA Midwife of the Year 2023

14 December 2023 - Emily Woolliscroft, Consultant Midwife at King’s College Hospital, has been recognised by the MAMA Academy Awards 2023

King’s College Hospital Consultant Midwife Emily Woolliscroft has been awarded the prestigious MAMA Midwife of the Year 2023 award for helping women and birthing people chose the type of birth that is right for them.

The MAMA Academy awards celebrate the unwavering dedication and hard work of all healthcare professionals who support expectant parents and their babies.

Emily Woolliscroft said: “I was over the moon to have been nominated and shortlisted, let alone to have won then Midwife of the Year award!

“Within my role, I meet women in a specialist clinic to support them in making decisions surrounding their upcoming birth. Recently, I have worked with two new mothers to co-produce and launch a group session to provide families with more information about choosing a caesarean birth. This has been really well received, particularly as families can attend the sessions from the comfort of their own homes. Alongside this, I lead on quality and care improvement projects to increase choice and personalisation throughout the pregnancy journey.

“A real focus of my work has been ensuring that our services are designed to meet the needs of the women, birthing people and families who use them, and that we collaborate and co-produce our services alongside families. It’s been a real team effort, and I’m very humbled and thankful to have been recognised for my contribution.”
