#NewProfilePic for September 2025

01 September 2025 - This month's new profile pic features Katie Reeves, a Clinical Research Midwife at King's.

Katie qualified as a midwife in 2017 and began working in the labour and maternity wards, as well as the Oasis Birth Centre at King’s. She said: “I am so proud to work in a hospital that is a leader in research and innovation. Developing new treatments and improving patient care is so vitally important – and it’s what drives my passion.”

What does your role consist of?

“I work in Women’s Health Research. One of my main roles is to inform patients about the research studies we have in maternity and discuss opportunities for enrolling.

“No two days are the same. I enjoy meeting new people and supporting them through their journey. I am the lead for social media for the team, and I enjoy promoting research opportunities to the wider community ensuring equity to all.”

What makes your role special to you and the patients you care for?

“Having an impact on the care we provide, working with the local population, and changing and influencing care for future generations makes my role so special to me.”

A special moment that you’ve experienced at work?

“I have had many special moments in my career; being present at the birth of a new baby is an honour. I find immense joy in witnessing the birth of a new life and the transformation of a woman into a mother.”

Can you describe how you support families through some of the most challenging moments of their lives?

“I feel it is really important to listen to women and their families, and advocate for them throughout their pregnancy and labour. Not all births go ‘according to plan’ and supporting families through this time is extremely important, ensuring their voices are heard.

“Participating in research is so important; one person can have a huge impact and make a big difference.
