Our new staff profile for November 2022 is Maureen Ndubishi, ward leader on the Health and Ageing Unit at King’s College Hospital. Maureen said: “I have been working at King’s for almost 16 years. We have such amazing and brilliant team, which is what makes us unique.
“I am very proud of my role. I have the most dedicated team who look up to me as their leader. I see myself as an advocate for both patients and staff. I put my patients’ needs first, and I get great pleasure in doing so, as I love seeing them smile.
“Apart from featuring in the hospital magazine twice and wining the Team of the Year award in 2019, I have many good memories. Such as giving compassionate care to my patients and seeing those with complex needs get better and discharged safely into the community, which is what makes my job worthwhile.
“Working in the Health and Ageing Unit can be challenging at times, however it is very satisfying that I have actually made a difference to patients’ lives. I have gained some useful skills, such as being patient and having active listening skills. In addition, the support of the nurses and multi-disciplinary team makes the job a lot easier.
