#NewProfilePic for February 2026

01 February 2026 - Every month, a different member of staff will be our #NewProfilePic on social media.

This month’s staff New Profile Pic series features Anni, an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) Dental Nurse at the King’s College Hospital Dental Institute.
Having trained at King’s and remained here for nearly two years, Anni says: “I love the supportive environment, strong teamwork, and shared commitment to patient care, which inspires me every day to grow both professionally and personally.”

What does your role consist of?

“I support maxillofacial surgeons during procedures involving the face, mouth, head, and neck, while also caring for patients, explaining treatments in simple terms, and supporting them emotionally throughout each stage of their treatment journey.”
What makes your role special to you and the patients you care for?
“My role is special because I am often with patients during vulnerable moments, offering reassurance, kindness, and continuity of care, which helps build trust and makes a meaningful difference to how supported they feel throughout their treatment.”
A special moment you’ve experienced at work
“Every patient experience feels special to me, but the most rewarding moments are seeing patients leave with renewed confidence, comfort, and hope, knowing I played a small part in helping them through what may have been a difficult time.”
How do you support families through challenging moments?
“I support families by offering clear explanations, reassurance, and empathy, taking time to listen to their concerns, and ensuring they feel informed, respected, and supported during what can often be overwhelming and emotional situations.”
Is there anything interesting about your role that people may not know?
“Many people don’t realise that maxillofacial nurses care for patients with complex facial trauma and cancer, often supporting them not only clinically but emotionally, as facial conditions can significantly impact confidence, communication, and overall wellbeing.”
Why is LGBTQ+ History Month important to you and your patients?
“As someone who identifies as queer, LGBTQ+ History Month is important to me because it promotes visibility, inclusion, and equality, and helps ensure all patients feel safe, understood, and respected when accessing healthcare, regardless of their identity.”
