Our new staff profile for August 2022 is Georgina Keeley, a Junior Sister in our critical care unit at the PRUH. Georgina has been with us since 2016. She said: “I like it here because I feel people are genuinely trying to do their best all the time. It’s such a lovely atmosphere and several opportunities to do courses – I’m a bit of a nerd!

“My role is special as I play a part in people’s lives during extremely difficult and emotional times for them. It’s not always easy, but to make it a bit easier on patients and their families is something I love doing. Also, using the skills I’ve learned through the additional education is very fulfilling.

“A special moment I’ve experienced at work was during the pandemic. The son and daughter of a patient, cried as they hugged me to say thank you.

“One aspect I hadn’t considered before I came to this job was that we can be part of the conversation around organ donation. After a donation, we are told how many people have been helped as a result- it’s heart-warming.”
