New Willowfield building officially opens at King’s

11 July 2023 - A new outpatient facility at King’s College Hospital has been officially opened by Helen Hayes, MP for Dulwich and West Norwood.

Welcoming The Willowfield Building, Helen said:

“This is a moment of genuine celebration; I can see the difference it will make to people. Its calm, modern and light environment will be better for patient care in so many ways.”

Directed towards staff gathered to mark the occasion, she added: “Thank you so much for everything you do. The NHS is this country’s proudest institution.”

Parts of the new building have been used for patient care since November last year, since when it has already received more than 69,500 attendances from patients, providing for people with a range of conditions from respiratory medicine to rheumatology, neurology, urology and more.

Professor Clive Kay, Chief Executive, joined staff in giving Helen a tour of the new building, which was built in just nine months and is made up of 132 steel-framed modules.
