New Profile Pic for December 2025
01 December 2025 - Every month, a different member of staff will be our #NewProfilePic on social media.
This December, we’re thrilled to feature Joan Maniago, a dedicated Practice Development Nurse from the Children’s Ward and Outpatients Department at Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH), as our Christmas special New Profile Pic for social media.
• How long have you been working at King’s, and why do you like it?
“I’m grateful to have been with King’s since January 2019. As a teaching hospital, it’s a great place to grow. King’s provided incredible support for my education, including the completion of a BSc in Children’s Nursing and a PgCert in Teaching, and I will soon continue with my Master’s in Education.”
• What makes your role special to you and the patients you care for?
“My role is special because I directly impact both staff development and patient care. By supporting the team through training and mentorship, I help ensure children receive the best possible care, which brings a deep sense of purpose and fulfilment.”
• Do you have a special moment that you’ve experienced at work?
“When I moved to PRUH in January 2024, I made it a priority to ensure staff were trained and competent in accessing central lines, especially ports, for our complex children. The nurses felt reassured by their new skills, and a mother specifically thanked me for improving her and her daughter’s hospital experience.”
• With Christmas approaching, what does the coming month look like in the Children’s ward and Children’s Outpatients?
“Christmas is typically the busiest time in child health, with patients often coming in with severe respiratory illnesses. To support the staff, I ensure they have refresher training and provide an educational board with information. It’s also the happiest time, thanks to festive decorations and gifts that the children love.”
• This festive period, what message would you like to share with patients?
“During this festive period, I want to remind our patients and their families that we’re here to support you with care, compassion, and kindness. At King’s, we are dedicated to helping you through this season with warmth and hope, and we wish everyone marking this time a very happy festive holiday.”
