New digital check-in service at our King’s College Hospital Emergency Department

07 October 2025 - Service will support patient care and help to reduce queues

The Emergency Department (ED) at our King’s College Hospital site has launched a digital check-in service for patients aged 18 and over.

New self-service kiosks are installed at the entrance to ED so that when patients arrive, they can quickly and easily provide key information about their condition. This is fed directly into our electronic patient record system (Epic) so our clinicians can triage patients and direct them to the best place for care.

Introducing the kiosks will support our ED team to provide safe, timely and responsive care, and help to reduce long queues for patients upon arrival.

Clear signage is in place to direct patients arriving to our King’s College Hospital ED to the kiosks, where a Customer Care Officer or volunteer will be able to assist anyone with using the kiosk if they need it.
