King’s provides services out of Coldharbour Works building

08 December 2021 - King’s therapy services move to the refurbished building

From Wednesday 8 December, outpatient physiotherapy, musculoskeletal and routine hand therapy services provided by King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust will move to a new location at Coldharbour Works, located near Loughborough Junction train station.

The move is designed to improve the experience of patients accessing our services, and to reduce the number of times people need to visit the main King’s College Hospital site at Denmark Hill.

The new facility, known as Coldharbour Works, has been designed to meet the specific needs of the thousands of patients a month who currently receive therapy care at King’s.

The purpose-built Coldharbour Works building will provide high-quality NHS services for patients, provided by the same King’s staff previously based on the main hospital site.

The new building is equipped with brand new clinic areas, and a gym to support patients with their rehabilitation needs.

The move is part of a wider transforming care programme at King’s, designed to improve the experience of patients using our services. The move will also help us reduce pressure on our main King’s College Hospital site.

A number of therapy services will continue to be provided on the main hospital site, including those for patients receiving specialist care as part of our status as a Major Trauma Centre for the Capital.

The space used for outpatient services on the main hospital site will be re-purposed and re-designed to improve care for patients accessing emergency care services, and to improve patient flow and reduce delays to patient care.

Kate Gregory, Chief of Therapies, Rehabilitation and Allied Clinical Services, said:

“I am excited that therapies is moving to this brand-new facility. Our therapy team have been involved with each stage of the redesign of the building to ensure that we will be able to continue to provide high-quality care to the many patients who use our services in an effective and efficient way in our newly refurbished therapy treatment rooms.”

Coldharbour Works is accessible by public transport. Buses travelling to the new facility include the 35, 45, 345. Loughborough Junction station is close by and Brixton underground station, which is step-free, is a short bus journey away.
