King’s nurse awarded leadership scholarship

28 May 2025 - Congratulations to Dani Nebres, Lead Nurse at in our Clinical Research Facility, who has been awarded a Florence Nightingale Leadership Scholarship.

This 18-month programme is a development opportunity for senior nurses and midwives looking to take the next step in their careers. It aims to help build confidence and leadership capabilities, develop professional networks, and offer coaching and mentorship to individuals.

One of 48 scholars from across the globe, Dani will undertake a quality improvement project as part of the scholarship. This project will focus on the implementation of equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) training for more than 200 research staff across King’s.

Commenting on the scholarship, Dani said: “I see this scholarship as a chance to grow, not just as a leader, but as a person. To learn from others, to challenge myself, and to take what I’ve started even further. EDI in research isn’t just a project for me, it’s a cause I care about deeply.

“In research, we can’t keep having the same groups left out, it affects outcomes and deepens health inequalities. We started a small EDI project in our research facility to understand staff experiences and attitudes, and the feedback was powerful. Expanding this across the Trust felt like the right next step — to make our research more inclusive and ensure everyone feels welcome and represented.

“This project isn’t just about data or participation rates; it’s about better outcomes for all patients.”
