Triple Nursing Times award win for Team King’s
04 November 2026 - The Trust has been named winner in three categories in the Nursing Times Awards 2026
Teams across King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust have scooped three prestigious Nursing Times Awards, presented on Thursday 29 October 2026.
The Nursing Times Awards celebrate the very best in nursing and midwifery, recognising the innovation, leadership, compassion, and excellence that continue to make a difference to patient care across the UK.
King’s Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) Clinical Nurse Specialist team were selected as winners of the Theatre and Surgical Nursing award, for their work to develop the UK’s first nurse-led ERAS pathway to improve the recovery process following neurosurgical spinal procedures.
The Bladder and Bowel Clinical Nurse Specialist team were also presented with Continence Promotion and Care award. Teaming up with colleagues from the ERAS Clinical Nurse Specialist team, they were recognised for their collaborative project ‘From Retention to Recovery: A nurse-led continence pathway transforming post-operative spinal care.’
Sophie Roffe, Senior Health Play Specialist, and Shevon Dalena, Matron for Children with a Learning Disability, Autism and Neurodevelopmental Conditions at King’s, took home the third award of the evening. They were announced as winners of the King’s Award for Integrated Approaches to Care for their Helping Hands sensory blood test clinic, which helps children and young people with learning disabilities and autism who have often had difficult, distressing or unsuccessful experiences with blood tests in the past overcome their fear of healthcare.
The Trust was also shortlisted in the Infection Prevention and Control category for ‘Reducing healthcare-associated infections through implementation of a water-free patient washing protocol in critical care’.
Tracey Carter, Chief Nurse and Executive Director of Midwifery at King’s, said: “I am incredibly proud of our colleagues whose commitment, innovation and teamwork have been recognised through these awards. Their dedication to improving patient care and recovery continues to make a real difference to the people we serve.
“This achievement reflects the talent, compassion and ambition of our teams, and our ongoing commitment to delivering outstanding care through continuous improvement and innovation across the Trust.”
