Biography

Mr Ahilan Kailaya-Vasan is a Consultant Neurosurgeon specialising in neurovascular conditions at King’s College Hospital. He has expertise in the diagnosis and management of complex cerebrovascular disorders, including brain aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), and cranial and spinal dural arteriovenous fistulae.

He completed his medical training at University College London and undertook his higher neurosurgical training in Sheffield and London, followed by subspecialist training through the Royal College of Surgeons-accredited King’s Neurovascular Fellowship. He works within a multidisciplinary team alongside neuroanaesthetists, neuroradiologists, neurologists, and other specialists to deliver comprehensive care for patients with complex conditions affecting the blood vessels of the brain and spine.

His clinical practice includes both microsurgical techniques and collaborative endovascular management, enabling tailored treatment strategies based on individual patient needs. He manages patients across the full pathway, from diagnosis through to treatment and long-term follow-up.

Alongside his clinical work, Mr Kailaya-Vasan is actively involved in research in neurovascular disease and has published in peer-reviewed journals.

He is committed to clear communication and supporting patients in understanding their condition and treatment options, particularly in complex and high-risk cases.
