Biography

Professor Kathleen (Kathy) Fan has been a Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon at King’s College Hospital since 2008, providing comprehensive care for conditions affecting the mouth, jaws, and face in both adults and children.

She qualified in Dentistry from Guy’s Hospital, University of London, and later in Medicine from St Bartholomew’s and the Royal London Medical School. Between her two clinical degrees, she was awarded a PhD in Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) and Head and Neck Cancer from University College London.

Her higher surgical training was undertaken at several centres of excellence, including King’s College Hospital, Guy’s Hospital, the Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead and Kent and Canterbury Hospital. She is dual accredited in oral and maxillofacial surgery and oral surgery

Professor Fan is widely published in the fields of maxillofacial surgery and PDT. She was the 63rd President of the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (BAOMS) 2024/5, a Council Member of the British Medical Laser Association, and Co-Editor-in-Chief of Craniomaxillofacial Trauma & Reconstruction.
