Choose kindness at King’s
At King’s, kindness must go both ways.
Our Choose Kindness campaign is a clear and visible stand against violence, abuse, and disrespect in our hospitals.
Sadly, incidents of aggression towards staff are more common than they should be – and they can have a lasting impact on people’s health, wellbeing, and ability to care for patients.
We want everyone who visits or works in our hospitals to feel safe, respected, and supported.
A safe environment for everyone
We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all – patients, visitors, and staff alike.
If you have a concern about your care or experience, please speak to a member of our team so we can resolve the issue quickly and respectfully.
Sometimes, a person’s behaviour may be affected by ill health – including mental health conditions. In these cases, we will take all reasonable steps to provide appropriate support while ensuring safety for everyone.
How we keep people safe
Our hospital teams – including Security, the Vulnerabilities Clinical Team, and senior nursing and medical staff – are trained to respond to any incidents of violence or abuse. Their first priority is your safety and wellbeing.
How to report violence or abuse
If you witness or experience violence or abuse while in our hospitals:
- Tell a member of staff straight away. They will make sure you are safe, and ensure the incident is recorded and escalated.
- Contact the police if you wish to make a formal report:
- Online: Report a crime to the Metropolitan Police
- Phone: Call 101 (non-emergency) or 999 in an emergency.
