What we do
King's neuro-oncology service is one of the largest in the UK and Europe and sees patients referred nationally and internationally.
Our team of neurosurgeons, neuro-oncologists, neuro-pathologists, neuro-radiologists, palliative care (pain relief) doctors, clinical nurse specialists and therapists treats patients with all types of brain and spine tumours. They combine clinical expertise with state-of-the-art facilities to ensure our patients receive the very best care and treatment.
We run specialsed multidisciplinary clinics as well as children's (paediatric) clinics. We also provide the UK's only dedicated Teenage and Young Adult Service for central nervous system tumours.
We have a brain tumour support group which is held on the first Monday of every month at St Thomas' Hospital. For more information, please call the Neuro-oncology co-ordinator.
Preparing for your appointment
If you are being seen in the outpatient clinic you are likely to have had an MRI scan and we will usually have the results.
If you have not had an MRI scan, please call the Neuro-oncology co-ordinator.
If you are waiting to hear about an MRI appointment at King's, please contact the MRI appointments office.

Booking a patient at King's
Routine referrals are reviewed at the weekly Neuro-oncology MDT meeting held every Friday.
To ensure a referral is included in the review meeting, please complete the Neuro-oncology referral form below and email, by 1pm Thursday, to the Neuro-oncology team at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Referrals received after this time will be reviewed at the following Friday's meeting.
A Neuro-oncology referral form must be completed and sent to King's Neuro-oncology team for each referrred patient. All investigations - ie CT/MRI - must be image-linked to King's College Hospital Radiology Department.
For emergency referrals, call King's main switchboard on 020 3299 9000 and ask to speak to the on-call Neurosurgical Registrar.
Urgent referrals for suspected malignancies can be made via the two-week wait office where patients will be seen locally by a specialist; this will normally be a neurologist.
For advice and guidance on referrals, call the Neuro-oncology co-ordinator on 020 3299 4151.
Please complete the relevant form and note any pre-consultation investigations required:
