Renal

We provide a full range of care for people with kidney disease in a friendly and supportive environment.

We cover a wide catchment area, and offer treatment at King’s College Hospital and at dialysis units in south east London and Kent. This allows patients to have regular treatment closer to home.

Treatment and specialist services we provide includes:

  • dialysis
    • dedicated outpatient facilities and support for home and community dialysis
    • haemodialysis at our dialysis units and at home; we also support holiday haemodialysis
    • peritoneal dialysis (PD), including assisted automated PD and continuous ambulatory PD supported by our community team based in Sydenham
  • acute kidney injury and chronic kidney disease care
  • anaemia management
  • conservative kidney management
  • plasma exchange services
  • general and specialist outpatient clinics for people with:
    • advanced kidney disease
    • diabetes and renal disease
    • lupus nephritis
    • sickle cell disease affecting the kidneys
    • polycystic kidney disease
    • renal-liver.

Our clinicians also provide a pre-kidney transplant service, supported by counsellors and dietitians, to help prepare patients for transplant. Transplants are carried out at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.
