Assisted Conception Unit

What we do

Our Assisted Conception Unit (ACU) was founded in 1983. It was the fourth unit in the UK to deliver a child after treatment with in-vitro fertilisation (IVF).

We provide a comprehensive range of investigations and treatment for infertility including:

  • IVF
  • intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI)
  • surgical sperm collection
  • ovulation induction (OI)
  • intra-uterine insemination (IUI)
  • donor sperm treatment - consult our Information for recipients of donor sperm
  • egg donation and surrogacy co-ordination
  • sperm and embryo cryopreservation
  • sperm washing for HIV-positive men
  • blastocyst embryo transfer
  • surrogacy
  • surgery for fibroids, endometriosis and tubal disorders.

We treat couples, single women, same-sex couples and HIV-positive men and women. Consult our Information for HIV positive patients requesting Assisted Conception.

For more information on what we offer, how to start treatment and the available fertilisation techniques, read ACU Frequently Asked Questions or come to one of our Assisted Conception Open Evenings. These take place on the third Monday of each month, with talks from Consultants, Specialist Nurses and Embryologists - call to book a place 0203 299 5390.

Over the past year, there has been a huge increase in the percentage of patients who have a clinical pregnancy following IVF or ICSI treatment at King’s Assisted Conception Unit.
