Jonathan Makanjuola is a Consulant Urologist and lead clinician for bladder cancer at King's College Hospital. He also has a specialist interest in stone disease and upper urinary tract cancer.
He was the first recipient of the prestigious BAUS/WCE Endourology fellowship, where he travelled to Sri Lanka to learn percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) - a keyhole surgery procedure to remove kidney stones - and surgical management of advanced stone disease.
Jonathan has a background in health technology and in addition to his medical degree he has a bachelors degree in Computer Science. He has worked as a Software Project Manager for a large multinational company, and was seconded to work for the UK Department of Health National IT programme (Connecting for Health).
Jonathan has an interest in implementation and evaluation of IT systems that are currently used nationally across the NHS. He has published and presented posters nationally and internationally on stone disease, urological trauma, surgical innovation/education and laparoscopy. He is a regular reviewer of submitted papers for three urological journals.
He is the cancer and genetics module co-lead for year 3 medical students at King's College Hospital School of Medicine.
