Biography

Roderick James Hay is Consultant Dermatologist, Kings College Hospital, London; Professor of Cutaneous Infection, Kings College London and Chairman of the International Foundation for Dermatology. He is an honorary professor in the Clinical Research Unit, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM).

His first consultant post was at the Institute of Dermatology in 1979 and clinical senior lecturer at LSHTM. He was appointed to the Mary Dunhill chair of Cutaneous Medicine and consultant dermatologist at Guys and St Thomas in 1989. Between 1995-2000 he was Dean and Clinical Director of the St Johns Institute of Dermatology, London.

From 2002-2007 he was Head of the School of Medicine and Dentistry and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Queens University Belfast ( QUB ) and is an emeritus Professor of QUB. He was a non-executive director of the Eastern Health and Social Services Board (Health Authority ) Northern Ireland between 2002-2009. He is a former President of the British Association of Dermatologists, and the British and European Societies of Medical Mycology
