Planned (elective) treatment
We are still treating a number of coronavirus patients across our hospital sites. As such, we have measures in place to ensure we are able to look after an increasing number of patients. Please read the below information to find out how this might affect you.
We are carrying out non-urgent inpatient activity and day case surgery as normal, although we are keeping this under regular review.
If you have an appointment for planned surgery, please attend as normal. In the event we need to cancel or postpone your operation, our teams will be in touch with you.
Prior to your operation, we will arrange for you to have a COVID-19 test, usually three days before your admission date. After your test, you will need to self-isolate until you come into hospital. Your treatment will only go ahead as scheduled if the test shows you do not have COVID-19.

Due to the increasing number of coronavirus patients, we are currently only offering face-to-face outpatient appointments in urgent cases that cannot take place by video or phone.
We are continuing with video and phone consultations to avoid unnecessary trips to hospital. However, we are currently very busy and may need to reschedule your appointment. We will contact you to let you know how and when your appointment will take place. If you haven’t heard from us within 24 hours of your appointment, please assume that it has been cancelled – we will be in touch with you as soon as we can to rearrange.
