UPDATE: Friday 21 January

The issue has been fully resolved and all services are running normally.
_____

Today (Thursday 20 January), following a suspected isolated gas leak on Bessemer Road, the Normanby building at King’s College Hospital has been evacuated, and an exclusion zone established by emergency services. This is a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of staff, patients and visitors. The Normanby building houses ophthalmology and dermatology outpatient services.

Ophthalmology outpatient appointments

Unfortunately, we are having to postpone patients with ophthalmology outpatient appointments scheduled for today. These will be rescheduled as quickly as possible.

Dermatology outpatient appointments

Patients with dermatology outpatient appointments should instead go to Unit 6 at the hospital, although appointments may be running a little behind schedule.

Other services are unaffected

We are sorry for any inconvenience caused, and our teams will reschedule any appointments cancelled as soon as possible. In the event the Normanby building needs to remain closed beyond today, we will be in touch with patients who have future appointments booked.

This is an isolated incident, and all other services for patients at King’s College Hospital are unaffected, with our teams are continuing to treat patients as usual.

Thank you for your support and co-operation.
