King’s Cancer team has been shortlisted as a finalist in the 2021 Patient Experience Network National Awards (PENNA) and Patient Safety Awards in the following categories.
The Patient Experience Network National Awards are the first and only awards programme to recognise best practice in patient experience across all facets of health and social care in the UK. King’s Cancer team has been shortlisted in the Cancer Patients Experience Survey (CPES) Award (In partnership with Macmillan and NHS England and Improvement) for the King’s and Macmillan Improving Cancer Patient Experience Programme.
The Awards Ceremony will take place on 17 September 2021.
The Patient Safety Awards recognise best practice in safety, culture and experience in patient care. Our Cancer team have been nominated for the Service User Engagement and co-production award for the King’s and Macmillan: Improving Cancer Patient Experience Programme. The Awards Ceremony will take place on 20 September 2021.
Both awards celebrate the best achievements in improving the experience and care for cancer patients in healthcare.
King’s and Macmillan Cancer Support entered into a strategic partnership to deliver the ‘King’s and Macmillan Improving Cancer Patient Experience Programme’. Highlighted as one of King’s quality account top priorities, our aims were to understand and address the unmet needs of our local populations and look at how we could develop and tailor care to meet the needs and expectations of patients throughout their cancer pathway.
Since entering into this partnership, King’s has improved by 30 places in the national Cancer Patients Experience Survey (CPES). This fantastic achievement has been made possible through collaborative working with stakeholders, engaging with our patients, and good governance and reporting. This has resulted in the programme being a huge a success in improving patient safety and experience of cancer care across King’s.
