Partners/companions attending scans

We fully understand the importance of women having the support of a partner/companion during their scans. Further to our announcement on the planned reintroduction of partners attending scan appointments, we now have measures in place to implement this. From 8am on Wednesday 23 September, one companion or partner is welcome to attend maternal scans. Inside the building social distancing measures are in place and the wearing of a face covering is mandatory. Unfortunately, children are not permitted.

Partners/companions supporting women during labour and after birth

To coincide with partners/companions being able to attend scans, from Wednesday 23 September partners will be able to be present during induction of labour (10am – 8pm) and throughout labour. Birth partners should remain with the woman and wear a mask at all times whilst on the labour ward. Partners should come with everything they need as they will not be permitted to re-enter the ward if they leave, to help reduce the number of people coming and going onto labour ward. The same birth partner should remain throughout.

Visiting times for partners on the antenatal and postnatal wards have been extended and will be from 10am to 8pm.

Please be aware that the above could change in response to local or national Covid-19 prevalence or new Government guidance.
