Norovirus in our community

21 November 2019 - Please avoid coming to our hospitals if you have diarrhoea and vomiting

Nurse washing hands

There are currently reports of norovirus - also known as the winter vomiting bug - circulating in the community, with outbreaks occurring in schools and nurseries.

If you experience diarrhoea and vomiting, please avoid coming to our hospital as it is easily spread to our staff and patients.

Instead, stay at home, drink plenty of water, and rest. To prevent the virus from spreading, it is important to practice good hand hygiene - wash your hands thoroughly after going to the toilet and before you eat.

If your symptoms do not pass within 48 hours and you are concerned, please phone your GP surgery or the NHS 111 service.
