Out of hours

If you have an urgent media enquiry out of hours, please call the hospital switchboard on 020 3299 9000 and ask to speak to the clinical site manager. He/she will then direct your enquiry if appropriate to the on-call communications officer.

Condition checks

We can assist with requests about the condition of patients being treated here at King's (known as ‘condition checks’). The following rules and guidelines apply:

Patient information
Journalists wanting to check on the condition of a patient must have at least the patient’s first and second names
We cannot divulge any information about a patient without permission from the patient, or their next of kin. If the patient or their next of kin has specifically requested that no information is released to the media about their condition, their wishes will always be respected.
Comfortable, stable or critical
If permission is granted, only a brief indication of the patient’s condition will be given; for example, comfortable, stable or critical.
