One Trust, many sites

King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is one of London’s largest and busiest teaching hospitals. In October 2013 we took over responsibility for:

  • Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH), Farnborough Common
  • Orpington Hospital, Orpington
  • Plus additional services at Beckenham Beacon, Sevenoaks Hospital and Queen Mary’s Hospital, Sidcup.

The new King's

We now care for patients in the boroughs of Bromley and Bexley in addition to Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham. Many of our services, such as Trauma and Neurosurgery, are delivered on a regional basis, whilst people from throughout the UK and beyond come to us for our world renowned specialist services such as Liver and Foetal Medicine.

As a result of the integration we operate as one Trust across many sites. Over the next five years we will transform King’s into a fundamentally new kind of Trust built around patient need, offering all our patients – local, national and international – the highest quality of care. We will deliver this as part of a joined-up and well-managed healthcare system, built in partnership with GPs, commissioners and other healthcare providers.

"As King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust enters its second century we now look very different – with 11,000 staff across a number of busy sites, pioneering clinical care in the face of new challenges. "

"We believe as passionately as ever in our King’s values and I am confident everyone in Team King’s remains as energised as ever by our commitment to our patients."

Tim Smart, Chief Executive
