Termination of pregnancy

What we do

Our clinic at Denmark Hill offers a full pregnancy termination service for women.
We carry out:-

  • first trimester surgical terminations under local anaesthesia in the procedure room at the clinic
  • early medical terminations as day cases in the Gynaecology Ward (Katherine Monk) or patients can take the medication in the clinic and abort at home
  • first and second trimester terminations under general anaesthesia in the Day Surgery Unit.

All women are counselled, scanned, consented and pre-assessed by the team at our Denmark Hill clinic. The service, which has two doctors and five specialist nurses, is managed by a gynaecology consultant and a full-time lead nurse.

Our service is the only NHS TOP provider in south-east London and is accredited by the NHS as "young person-friendly". Many women who have medical problems which make them unsuitable for treatment in the charitable sector, are referred to King's each year from acoss England and Wales.
