Gastroenterology

What we do

We treat all diseases of the digestive tract. Liver or pancraeatic problems are treated by the liver unit.

We have specialist clinics which diagnose and treat common conditions, such as dyspepsia, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

We also treat diseases of the small and large bowel in close collaboration with the specialist colorectal surgery clinic.

Conditions we treat

We diagnose and treat all diseases within the digestive tract. If there are clear liver or pancraeatic problems these are dealt within the liver unit.

Gastroenterology has set up specialist clinics to deal with key areas such as dyspepsia, inflammatory bowel disease and irritable bowel syndrome.

There is an additional interest in diseases of the small and large bowel where we maintain a very close collaboration with the specialist colorectal surgery clinic.

What is required before referring a patient

Many routine patients will have a letter from us requesting that they should have certain studies carried out before being seen in outpatients. This is so we can make a quicker diagnosis and keep the number of visits they make to the hospital to a minimum.
