Chemotherapy Day Centre

What we do

The chemotherapy service at King’s forms part of the Southeast London Cancer Network.

We administer chemotherapy for:

  • haematology malignancies
  • breast cancer
  • multiple sclerosis
  • rheumatology
  • dermatology
  • ectopic pregnancies.

The Macmillan Information and Support Centre at King's provides confidential support and advice to patients and carers. including a booklets on a range of conditions.

The centre is based in the Cecily Saunders Institute and is open Monday - Friday, 10am - 4pm.

Preparing for your appointment

You need to bring to your appointment:

  • a chemotherapy notification form
  • consent for treatment
  • first prescription signed by a consultant for the service
  • phone call requesting appointment time
  • recent blood test (within previous five days).

Your chemotherapy cannot proceed if any of the these has not been completed.

Conditions we treat

We are part of the Southeast London Cancer Network. We administer chemotherapy for haematology malignancies, breast cancer, multiple sclerosis, rheumatology, renal vasculitis, dermatology and ectopic pregnancies.

What is required before referring a patient

Patients requiring chemotherapy must have the following completed before attending the CDC.

  • chemotherapy notification form
  • consent for treatment
  • first prescription signed by a consultant for the service
  • phone call requesting appointment time
  • recent blood test (within five days).

If any of the above has not been completed, then chemotherapy treatment cannot proceed.

Routine Referrals

Referrals to this service can be made only by consultants at King's.

Emergency Referrals

Out of hours, any chemotherapy patient can call the on-call haematology registrar via the hospital switchboard on 020 3299 9000. They may ask the patient to attend the Emergency Department for assessment. Please contact the chemotherapy day centre on 020 3299 4664 at any other time.
