King's Pharmacy

The Pharmacy Department at King’s College Hospital supplies all the medicines used in the hospital and dispenses more than 650,000 pharmaceutical items each year. Our staff advise medical and nursing staff on which medicines to use and how to use them. We also advise patients on managing their medicines.

We also have a licensed Aseptic (sterile) Unit which prepares more than 20,000 products each year including chemotherapy infusions and specialist feeds (total parenteral nutrition feeds – TPNs) for adults and children.

Locations and opening hours

Main pharmacy

The main pharmacy is on the ground floor of Hambleden Wing, just past the Amigo mini-supermarket. To get to it, enter the main hospital entrance and walk along the central corridor and you will see it on your right.

Monday to Friday, 9am – 5.30pm
Saturday, 9am – 1pm (inpatients only)
Sunday, 10am – 1pm (emergency inpatients only)

Caldecot Centre pharmacy

There is also a pharmacy in the Caldecot Centre in Caldecot Road.

Monday, Tuesday and Friday, 9am – 5.30pm
Wednesday, 1 – 5.30pm
Thursday, 8am – 5.30pm
Saturday and Sunday, closed

Please note: we can only dispense white prescription forms issued by doctors at King's College Hospital. If your Doctor has given you a green (FP10) prescription, you can take this to any retail pharmacy.

We cannot dispense any prescriptions issued to you by your GP; please take these to a retail pharmacy.

Medicines Information Service and Medicines Helpline

Information Services for King’s College Hospital staff and patients are now provided by clinical pharmacy teams at King’s supported by specialist pharmacists at Guy’s & St Thomas’s NHS Foundation Trust.
