24 Hours in A&E – Episode 9

Wed, 11 July, 9pm on C4 – It’s another heart-rending and emotional time for families in our A&E - especially for one cancer patient.

24 hours in A and E

In this episode:

  • A woman brings in her 71-year-old mother who is experiencing chronic breathing problems. But there are difficult conversations for all around as she is in the late stages of cancer, which has spread throughout her body.
  • Another mother, 70, is in the waiting room with her daughter who was bitten by her cat. It’s a seemingly minor injury but after having radiotherapy for breast cancer, her immune system is very weak.
  • A dad consoles his five-year-old daughter who is having stitches on a head wound.
  • A boy helps out by translating for his Brazilian grandmother who has injured her wrist.

The second series of “24 Hours in A&E” was filmed around the clock for six weeks at King’s. Each programme focuses on people treated within the same 24-hour period.
